Ingredients

Red gram(Toor dal) – 1/2 cup
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Snake gourd – 1 medium cut to med pieces
Salt - As reqd

For grinding:-
Cumin - 1 tbsp
Green chillies - 4 nos
Small onions - 2 nos
Garlic pods - 2 nos
Grated coconut - 3 tbsp

For seasoning:-
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 10 nos
Tomato - 1 no

 

 

Method:

1.Cook the dal and Snake gourd with turmeric powder in a pressure cooker until the gram and snake gourd is fully cooked.(one whistle)
2.Grind cumin seeds, green chillies, small onions, garlic and coconut with little water.
3.Add the above paste into the Snake gourd-dal mixture,add salt and cook for another 3 mins.
4.Heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan,Splutter mustard seeds.
5.Add curry leaves and tomato and saute for a while.
6.Add it to the gourd-dal mixture and mix well. Kottu ready.
