Ingredients
Green gram (Moong dal)- 1 cup
Turmeric – ½ tsp
Grated Coconut - 1 cup
Cumin seeds(Jeera)- ½ tsp
Salt to taste
Seasoning
Coconut oil/vegetable oil -1tsp
Pearl onion/shallots chopped-1 tsp
Red chilli – 2 no
Curry leaves – a sprig
Method:
1)Dry roast the dal on medium heat for ten minutes.Allow it cool.
2)Wash and Cook it with sufficient water and turmeric.When it is done add salt and if needed add more water and mash it well.
3) Grind the coconut with a little water and cumin seeds. Add to the cooked dal .keep this in medium heat and stir, remove before boiling.
4)Heat another pan and splutter mustard seeds ,chopped onions ,curry leaves and red chilli.Pour over the dal.
